I have just been reading about how to improve my website and came across a phrase I have never heard of before and don't know much about.  It is called Link Farming.  Does anyone know what it is or how it works?  I think it is something to do with black hatting which isn't a good thing to do at all and can get you into a lot of trouble.

I don't pretend to know anything about this but i looked it up on wikipedia.  (Isn't wiki great.) From what I read it is a type of index of links used for spamming a search engine.  From my experience, I recall searching for a term and accidently stumbling on pages that contained no real content, but simple lists of key words and links.  This could be what they are referring to.

I think that it is those who have too much outgoing links to their site.  I heard that its bad on search engines and in some cases they do banned them on their search.  I remember the time when I was just starting out and had joined one of those exchange link sites.

It never does me any good at all because my site never got a ranking even if it is already 5 months.

Thanks for answering my question.  SEO is such a big world with so much to learn.  Sometimes it feels like I am never going to learn enough about it.  It is an ever changing world as well.
