I couldn't believe it when I read this.  Google gave a Brazilian punters' information over to the government because the authorities asked them nicely.  If you want to read the exact information have a look here; http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2008/04/24/google-han ...

So what I want to know why I posted this is, where does this leave us?  Does this mean that if the government threatens a little bit then none of our information is safe?  Is this not a frightening concept?  I mean I haven't done anything wrong, but the government can make up so much stuff.  It really is a worry if none of our personal information is safe.  It  also poses the question that does this not enfringe our human rights to privacy?

Okay, but none of our information is that safe anyway, online or offline. If the government needs it (or wants it for whatever reason), then it's handed over to the appropriate authorities. This is no different.
