I’m thinking of optimizing my site for Yahoo since Google has not been giving me enough traffic for past two months.  I’m thinking that I would just concentrate on search engine then I would get the max benefit of it, since everyone is always thinking of Google.  Anyone here who already optimized there site for Yahoo and succeeded?

I don't really know how to optimize for one search engine and not for others really.

MSN, Yahoo and Google have very similar search algorithms, but they are different.

Yahoo goes out of their way at times to show different results than Google. Sometimes this hurts search relevancy in my opinion.

I have seen data that shows that eCommerce websites typically have higher conversion rates from Yahoo traffic. I'm not sure why that is, but Google still controls roughly 59% of the search market.

Thanks for mentioning the conversion part because I’m thinking of buying some ads on Adwords but since that you have said about the higher conversion on Yahoo.  I think that I would just buy from YPN instead.

With so many sites and such a wide range of factors that influence conversion rate I wonder how correct those figures are?

Do you have any suggestions on how to raise Yahoo results?

The chances of Yahoo delivering better search results than Google seems remote.  However there are things you can do such as writing a clean website and avoiding getting banned.  Yahoo is a little different to that of Google and you have to learn how it works.  Create new and relevant content the general idea is that if Google can spider it, MSN and Yahoo can too.

I also believe that Yahoo and MSN will eventually crawl my site but the difference with Google and other search engines is that Google will crawl your site even if it is only new while you have to wait until it age to be crawled by other search engine.

Hi yes I know how you mean they will eventually crawl your website but, you wanted more than that.  You wanted them to do it quickly.  I am not sure really other than paying for your ad to appear in the listings that can cost quite a lot of money.

I think that I will be depending on other sources of traffic aside from the traffic that I have been getting from Google.  The $300 seems so much for me.

Yes it is a lot of money and hardly seems worth it when you think eventually you will be able to get listed for free.  There are other avenues you can explore for traffic.  Have you heard of surfing for traffic?  I do this a lot.  I do this on Dragon Surf, Rainforest Clicks and a place called TrafficG both are good traffic building links.

I have never heard of dragonsurf and the others, thanks Mickie31. I will check them out.

As far as Yahoo goes, I agree, just hand on and let them crawl you for free and save the $300.

You are welcome Hurgoll.  I think that dragonsurf is really good and I enjoy doing it and have had a lot of visitor's to my website.  I think surfing for traffic is a great idea because it is totally free unlike other forms of more expensive advertising.
