To get your website high in the rankings of Yahoo you must follow these key areas;
    Keyword density
    Site structure
    Backlinks
    Aging
Optimal keyword densities are being updated regularly so you need to analyse and compare them to ensure they reach optimal levels.
Site structure is extremely important on Yahoo much more so than on any other website.  Site structure determines the order in which your content will be shown by search engines.  Content should have the highest priority.
Having a secure backlink count from appropriate sites using good anchor text is essential practise on Yahoo.  Yahoo is much more similar to Google than it is compared with MSN.  Quality of links are also very important on Yahoo.

Thanks for the tips Mickie31! I think you are barking up the right trees with regards to SEO for Yahoo.

Yahoo seems to care more about the age of a domain name and quantity vs. quality of backlinks.

Maybe this is the reason why I’m getting a poor traffic from the search engine.  I always thought Yahoo has been giving me the traffic.

You can get listed without paying anything, but this could take up to a few weeks to get listed in the main Yahoo directory.  Yahoo does have a pay for inclusion program that allows you to submit up to 1000 URLs instantly to a search index. It might be quicker for you getting lots of incoming links from other sites.  Also if you pay for your submission, the editor is obliged to visit your site.

For $300 just for link back I don’t think that this is a wise investment for me.  Considering the money is way to much for me.  I’m just earning $200 a month.

If you are just earning that then taking out any extra advertising has to be carefully thought through.  If you are spending more than you are making then it isn't a worthwhile decision.  If on the otherhand you will get back what money you put into advertising and it is cost efficient then go for it.

I am also under that darn "budget" for adverts. I also would not have even close to a 1000 urls for submitting.

Yeah you have to be careful at first with what you spend on advertising.  It has to be worthwhile for you otherwise it's not worth spending money on.  There are plenty of free ways of advertising, but they just take more time and effort.  Like writing an Ezine article.

@Hurgoll
If you are just starting it wouldn’t be wise to spend your money on advertising your site.  It would be better if you will hire someone to the SEO job for you while you are doing your daily job.

Yeah or you could use a bit of your own time to market your site.  There are quite a number of ways in which you can market your site and do the SEO yourself.  Try to type it in on Google it should come up with a lot of articles.
