The latest alpha build of Dragonfly has been announced by Opera. This version will have the essential CSS editing ability. Since the original alpha, “Dragonfly alpha 2” features auto – complete for the command line, docked window mode, CSS editing and a downloadable debug menu. This version has had a lot of bug fixes and stability enhancements. There is lots of activity from Opera to push the tools out and a good thing is that Javascript editing will soon be available. According to David Storey a lot of the code written behind the CSS editing can be used again for future editing. Dragonfly should therefore look forward to advancement this year.
I doubt it will be as big as Safari or Firefox which has backing in far better public relations campaigns as well as Google. Opera are not good at promoting and need to learn the tricks of the trade. Of course all browsers need to follow the correct standards. Also most website designers know that if designing a web page that shows up in Opera then it is likely to do so in Firefox and Safari. This is very beneficial. To sum it up I think Opera is far greater for day to day development.
