I used flash headers when I started my designing life but suddenly realized that search engines won't like flash and the page cannot be indexed properly if the content is presented as a flash movie. I wonder is there any alternative to have graphics like flash with out compromising SEO?

Why use anything at all?

There are still people who use dial up for their web access.  Unless your site is fashion oriented, where glitz is expected, fairly static pages with just a few animated banners, perhaps, or an embedded video should be enough, IMHO.
The site will load faster and you will retain more surfers.

I guess what SageMother is trying to say, and I tend to agree, is that Flash is irritating to many users as well as an SEO issue.  The best alternative is to avoid using an animated movie for headers.

Yes.

Flash seems to be more trouble than it is worth when running a sleek, easy loading, search engine friendly site.

It would have probably been better for me to suggest weighing the benefits of seeking a substitute against the irritation, and therefore increased abandonment of the site, which will decrease the length of any visit.

Well I tried to be clear.  LOL
