Would using tools found in sites like Domain Tools, Cash2Park, or other sites geared toward domain developers and Domain sales, to create a new site help your domain's traffic in the end?

Domain sales and parking really are a separate genre from developing a domain.  It's essentially like real estate speculation (when compared to buying and working on a house, let's say).

I was under the impression that developing a domain could boost its worth if you decided to sell it later, and that both activities relied on hits from search engines, or potential hits, by virtue of the likelihood that the domain's name would be used during searches.

The value of a domain isn't based on the likelihood that it would be part of a search?

That's true.  You can sell a domain name but you can also sell a domain with the site as well.  If you've been able to develop traffic, and page rank, this adds to the value.

Where I have space to park a couple of names on an existing hosting account where I have an active site, wouldn't it be good to park similar domains, or domains in the same niche, with the active site instead of parking them with a service?

The added domain names could serve as the links pages for the main site until ready for sale.

Does that make sense?

LOL
