The one thing I have noticed peopel do is put irrelevant content on their sites. That is never good and that does you no justice whatsoever. You have to make sure that your keywords reflect your site in some way or another.

I haven't seen too much irrelevance in content but the ads are another issue.  Links to competitors should be avoided.  Complimentary links need to at least blend with the site's focus.

I don't see too many sites with irrelevant content. I agree that the links are a bigger problem. You don't want to direct people to your competitors site!

it's quite hard for me to identify which content are irrelevant and which are not,
if judging a website other than my own.
coz hey, only the webmaster can dictate on which areas should his site revolve around.

Did you mean ads? If there are too many irrelevant ads & I have to wade thru them to read the text, I usually close the window. It's annoying.

I feel it is not just the irrelevant ads but also irrelevant content that is found on some sites which doesn't help to gain whatever goals are set. In order to improve the traffic and make good money too from your ads, it should be checked to make sure the site has relevant matter. I came across a blog which was named as health related topic but had ads of work at home, which wouldn't help the blog owner.

Some blogs are obviously aimed at easy money, ammulu.  The think more about sitting in a stream of traffic and don't consider the expectations of potential readers.

Yeah SageMother, I do agree with you. Some really aim at easy money, I wonder how much they are able to succeed. Traffic to the site would be basically because of the content they are in look out for, so having relevant ads is utmost important I feel, that would really make them good money too.

Most people don't know how to create content that markets their affiliates effectively.  Of course, these poor folks are also participating in programs that promise effortless wealth!

Content is really king while traffic rules and I agree a hundred percent that webmasters should learn how to put quality content on their sites as this attracts the right traffic.

You are so right in that the content is to be relevant.  I have seen many business sites that have stuff on them it is not relevant to what they offer that it is ridiculous.  I can understand having ads on a business sites to make a little extra money.  But it should at least be related to what the business side is offering.

I couldn't agree more. If your content doesn't represent what your site is all about, then why even bother? Make it relevant or don't waste the time.

I know what you mean about putting irrelevant content on sites, this is the danger area of the Blog.  Too much content of an irrelevant nature just puts prospective customers' off.

Chosing words carefully will not only make the website sell itself, but it will also push you up the key word ranking's.

Writing website content is similar to writing a story it has to have meaning and structure.  If the meaning is lost by irrelevant words then you might as well kiss the website's potential good - bye.

Sometimes blogger do put some irrelevant contents on their site as a sort of diversion.  You can’t expect everyone to like all the topics that you have if they see this kind of contents over and over again.

The other thing that came to my mind whilst reading this is that if you are the webmaster of your site and it is a specific site based on a specific subject then really you would not put irrelevant content on your site because you get to know your customers and they get to know you.  If you put ireelevant information on your site then that could drive traffic away and lose you good customers.  So surely it is more sensible to think in terms of what is your site aiming to achieve and who is it aiming for?

That's true Mickie, losing good customers is a big issue. Just by keeping the content more relevant would be a good solution to gain more link exposure and more traffic.

Yeah I wouldn't want to lose customers it is far easier to keep the content relevant than lose customers.
