Now, comments from those without blogs on Blogger/Blogspot, Google's blog site, cannot leave their links. Only links that go to blogs on Google's blog service are allowed links.

Between the PR scandal a few weeks ago, the tightening of standards for legitimate click throughs on Adsense, and now the change with the blogs, it looks like Google means to limit how much money any one person or small business can make by limiting the ways one can spread the word about their product or service.

Since this will limit the numbers of people taking time to comment on Google hosted blogs, do you see an exodus to other blogging platforms or do you think business bloggers will simply move to self hosting, and maintain their reader base?

blogger was great when it was still the original blogger.com.
i don't see it progressed that much when google bought it.

self-hosted blogs, like that of wordpress, are becoming popular these days,
and google's threatened by it,
so they want to strengthen now their loyal supporters.

time to find a new home now, if i were those bloggers.

I am seeing lots of posts with bloggers starting to move away from their dependency on Google, where they can.  One of the paid links sites has set up its own rating system for blogs, ridding bloggers the need to have a Google PR above a certain level.

I am sure that more bloggers will self host and that some of the larger blog networks will start hosting blogs themselves.  All they have to do is avoid being bought out by Google or Yahoo once they really get going.

Ah, google is at it again.  We need more and more people to move away from using only google or they will have complete control of the blog market.

Well, you better hope that Google and Yahoo don't go to the merger.  Last I heard they were either talking are arguing about merging.  Somebody's going to have a nice monopoly.

This is a bit stupid I have to say, but Google have beginning to have a monepaly and this is the way it's going now these days. Let's face it, Google wants to stop people using their own Blogging Software and encourage them using Google's. I think Google really need to improve their own software and add more features if they expect this to happen.

Well, spam in comments was definitely a problem but comment moderation removes that risk entirely.  It's very difficult to have a meaningful discussion without links.. this is a mistake.
