I have heard from my boss that Flash is not anymore very useful nowadays.  Wonder why he said that? I think it is  because that flash doesn't have keywords and sometimes it distracts the surfers if done too much. Any idea?

I would not know how to answer that question.  I have no idea what flash is.  Can you explain what flash is?

For SEO flash isn't good. Engines can't pick up on keywords, alt tags or anything from a website that is built purely in flash. It can be used for games and little animations and programs for your website of course, it's very useful for that. In terms of designing the entire layout though flash is useless for SEO.

I still see tons of sites using flash.  I've heard that search engines don't really like it very much though.  I think the trend seems to be little or no flash.

Kyle, thanks for that information, that's most useful. Just an observation here I'd like to pick your brain about. To me there seems to be more Ajax showing up on newer sites now than Flash. I was wondering does the same thing apply to Ajax or is it better in the SEO stakes than Flash?

Flash as a games programme was always quite slow and not very reliable from my own experience however as for SEO.  As for SEO I would go with Flash it's improving all the time and for some time search engines have had the ability to follow hyperlinks within Flash.  Ajax is less search engine friendly and the problem with Ajax is it is doing away with unique URL'S.

I think people are using flash more decisively now. For a while, it was all over the place, but it's kinda backed off.....and they're using it where they should be instead of just all over the place.
