Would somebody be kind enough to explain to me exactly what flash is in relation to creating a webpage? Is this anything like a mouse over? __________________

Flash is a program used to create animation and it has a scripting language you can use to add interactivity. Ever played one of those simple games that load in your browser? It's probably Flash. Ever seen one of those buttons that does something funky and makes a noise when you mouse over it? It's probably flash.

Okay, I understand now. I didn't realize that flash was an actual program language. Something more for me to learn. You know where I can find information about the program language? __________________

Flash itself is a program which is now developed by "Adobe" along with 99% of useful programs these days. The language is uses is "Actionscript". If you want a face full of information feel free to check out the Wikipedia page on the subject:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Flash
Otherwise, Adobe's own site would be a good place to start to get an overview of the program.

Thanks for the information. I have to check out that URL. Either that or I will go go Adobe's site one of the other. __________________

Flash is a multimedia graphics program which is easy to learn as it does not require programming skill.

Adobe Flash was once known as Shockwave Flash and Macromedia Flash. It was introduced in 1996 and has become a popular method for adding animation and interactivity to web pages.

One place to check out if you're interested in more info is Newgrounds.com. It's a flash animation site that mostly has home-made animated stories and games, but the forums there also have a lot of information about how to use Flash as well.
