Just would like to share what I have browsed through about the most important characteristics of creating your content or optimizing it:

1. Heading Tags
    *  Never use the same tag twice on a single page
    * Try to be concise with your wording
    * Use heading tags only when appropriate. If bold text will do then go that route
    * Don't use CSS to mask heading tags
2. Special Text (bold, colored, etc.)
Reread your content and, if appropriate for BOTH visitors and search engines, use special text when it will help draw the eye to important information and also add weight to your keywords.
3. Inline Text Links
The two purposes are: to give the reader a quick and easy way to find the information you are referring to and to give added weight to this phrase for the page on which the link is located and also to give weight to the target page.
   4. Keyword Density
Simply place your targeted keyword phrase in your content as often as possible while keeping the content easily readable by a live visitor.

That all sounds about right.  From what I've seen its usually the application of everything you said above that people don't seem to follow, and thus results vary...

Results will always very because people are different.  As long as we use this as a guideline, things should work out nicely.  The main point is to be consistent throughout your page.

geline, thanks very much for sharing your knowledge. I'm fairly SEO ignorant as you'll probably be able to tell from my posts. I'd like to know please if you or anyone else can explain to me about the heading tag and why you shouldn't use the same one twice? That's the first I've heard of that.

Thanks!

Special text makes a different in search results? I don't think I realized that, lol.

You aren't alone.  I know how to code bold, colored, etc., but I didn' know that it had any purpose other than visual appeal on the page.  I didn't know that search engines cared if the word was pretty.

Thanks for this information it has helped.  I was a little unsure about tags so your information helped.  It helped to know that you only have to use heading tags when appropriate.  I like the idea about using special text to draw the eye to important information.  At the moment I am in the process of making my own website so all this information will help so thanks and thanks for referencing where you got the information from that is very good.

So do search engines read the HTML code and give extra weight if they see the special text tags then?
